Welcome to the first official topic in our "step-by-step" manual on how emerging digital marketing professionals can humanly enhance AI tools and suggestions! Today, we will be discussing some tips and tricks for how to professionally use AI Writing Assist to your best advantage.



Why do professionals use AI Writing Assist?

Many digital marketing professionals turn to these systems when they can’t seem to find the right words that convey what they are advertising for.

It's easy to simply tell artificial intelligence (AI) to create content ideas for you. BUT! Instead, let's take a look at how to humanly come up with content writing ideas, and how we can use AI Writing Assist platforms to aid the process, rather than take over completely.


First, let's see what AI Writing Assist platforms we are working with:


Chat GPT


ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAI that launched on November 30th, 2022. It is notable for enabling users to refine and steer a conversation towards a desired length, format, style, level of detail, and language used. Chat GPT is completely free, and can easily be searched via Google or any other search engine. Once you are in Chat GPT’s chat room, you can simply ask anything! For example, one could say “write three paragraphs about Milton Glaser, the most famous designer” and BOOM! Chat GPT has written three carefully laid out, informative paragraphs about Milton Glaser.



Jasper.AI


Jasper.ai is an AI writing tool designed to generate digital marketing material, such as blog posts, product descriptions, company bios, ad copy, and social media captions. One could simply type in the chat, “Write a social media caption that discusses how our company is environmentally friendly!” and again, BOOM! A short, social media caption is created at the touch of a button.



How can digital marketers use these platforms as a tool?


As stated above, we know that many digital marketing professionals turn to these systems when they can’t seem to find the right words that convey what they are advertising for. But! It is important for digital marketers to know the tips and tricks to coming up with a couple of original ideas themselves, rather than solely depending on AI to start the process.


When you are stuck, try turning to creative content writing exercises before jumping straight into AI.



Step 1: Start with Creative Content Writing Exercises.

  • Building Confidence.

  • Enhancing Artistic Self-Expression.

  • Providing Thought Clarification.

  • Developing a Better Understanding of the Mechanics of Reading and Writing.

Below is a Creative Content Writing Exercise template. Let's follow this template while keeping in mind our main content writing goal. For this example, we will write a social media caption on how "XYZ Company is environmentally friendly":


 

Step 2: Plug Your Own Original Content Ideas Into Chat GPT.

When plugging your original caption idea, from the content writing template, into Chat GPT, this platform is simply being used as a tool that suggests content writing improvements. Now, you can decide for yourself if you'll take these suggestions or keep molding this idea into something better.


NOTE: If you were to bi-pass this process, and ask Chat GPT to do all of the work for you, it doesn't quite work as well. You can see in the example below that Chat GPT seemed to be a little confused with your request, and made something much longer than a simple Instagram caption. The additional information that Chat GPT included might also not be true to your company. In conclusion, using AI as a "hack" rather than a tool, would cause you to actually be spending MORE time editing Chat GPT's basic solution.



 

Step 3: Combine Human & AI Suggestions. Finalize Your Work.


Now, you can easily compare and contrast your original caption idea, with the AI enhanced caption. Take components from both! When using this strategy, you are able to take full credit for the initial idea, and the final caption will have characteristics that were crafted from both human emotion and AI caption strategies.
